One hour talk & demonstration by Miriam Rose, CPDT-KA, CNWI, Washington's first certified K9 Nose Work™ Instructor. Miriam is also a professional detection dog trainer and handler.
K9 Nose Work™ is one of the fastest growing dog sports in North America; this exciting & inclusive dog sport was devised to bring the world of scent detection to the dog owning public for the delight the activity brings to dogs and their people.
All dogs and people can participate in this sport: dogs of any breed, disabled dogs, and behaviorally challenged dogs; and handlers who are physically challenged in any way.
Miriam will be taking reservations at the demo for an exclusive special 2-hour clinic to beheld at a later date in September 2011, where you can bring your dog and receive a personal hands-on experience of working on the foundation skills that lead to scent recognition. This is a unique opportunity to team with your dog and learn from one of the top instructors in the United States. You will receive knowledge of the foundation steps toward K9 Nose Work™, see your dog's ability bloom before your eyes, and discover if this is an activity you and your dog would like to explore before making a commitment to 6 week class sessions. Nose Work Trials and Odor Recognition Tests are held all over the country, but the ability to spectate is limited due to the nature of how the trials are set up, so this is your opportunity to explore the sport before making a leap. See what you and your dog can do together.
Hosted by the Cascade Doberman Pinscher Club
