Poochapalooza
July 11 Marysville, Wash. 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Totem Middle School Asbery Field, 1605 7th St. The 4th Annual Marysville Poochapalooza Outdoor Dog Event is like a county fair for dogs! Highlights: 2009 Hyperflite Skyhoundz Flying Disc Championship, Flyball exhibitions, Emerald City K-9 Freestyle Dancing Dog demonstrations, pet vendor booths, and more. N.O.A.H.'s 7th Annual Music for the Animals Dinner, Auction, and Concert

Mill Creek Festival Pet Plaza
July 18-19
Mill Creek, Wash. This fun, festival weekend features shows by two different animal communicators and performances by the Emerald City K9 Freestyle dancers. Dog Spa and Biscuit Tasting Bar, including FREE dog nail trims. Dog trainers available to assist with questions and problems. Premium food and treat vendors giving out FREE samples and providing nutritional consultation. There will also be non-profit groups with pets available for adoption. 2009 Oregon Basset Hound Games
July 18-19
Woodburn, Ore. Oregon Basset Hound Rescue kicks off this 17th annual celebration of basset hounds with a "waddle" at the Woodburn Company Stores (Exit 271 on I-5) on July 18 from 4-5 p.m.  The waddle is a parade of bassets in costume or not. Following the waddle, a reunion dinner begins at 6 p.m. at Legion Park on Park St. just off Oregon Hwy 214. The Basset Hound Games will be held at Legion Park on July 19 from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. with prizes awarded in competitive events from marathon napping to best costume to longest ears. $10 entry fee. For more info: oregonbassethoundrescue.com


Rainier Hunt Classic

Dog-a-Thon 2009

Des Moines Pet Festival

Westie Walk

Portland, Ore.  Registration 9 a.m. Walk begins 10 a.m. Wallace Park, NW 25th & Raleigh.  Hundreds of "Westies" (West Highland Terriers) take their owners to Northwest Portland for a 1½ mile walk and lots of attention.  Dogs who are friends of Westies are welcome to join the fun.  dovelewis.org

Seattle, Wash. 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Join the Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) at Seattle's Magnuson Park for a 5k walk (with or without your dog), animal-friendly shopping, free samples, canine agility course, a kids’ zone, and the fourth annual CityDog Cover Dog Model Search. That's right, we're looking for our next dog to grace the cover of CityDog Magazine and raising money for PAWS while we're at it! Space is limited, so register early for the noon event. Fremont Oktoberfest
